History
The Hotel am Schubertring was built in 1870 during an era in which the Ring with all the monumental buildings such as the Opera, Burgtheater and parliament were erected.
During the turn of the century one of the most important architects of the Viennese Art Nouveau school, Otto Wagner - he built the Kirche am Steihnhof, the Stadtbahn pavilions, the Majolica House - was commissioned with the design of a Hotel with the name "Hotel Wien" to be built on this site.
This design was not carried out due to a lack of funding. In 1984 the plans, which were not implemented at the beginning of the century, were realised and a hotel was made out of the existing Ring building, the Hotel am Schubertring. In line with the history and the tradition of the building the rooms were furnished in Art Nouveau as well as in Biedermeier style. The rooms provide a very nice and pleasant atmosphere, historical flair and modern comfort both come together.
